We have 2 weeks planned in August to travel around Devon and Cornwall (or possibly other SW counties), and we are after some help.We are flying to Torquay and we are planning to travel around for 2 weeks. As accomodation in the UK can be expensive we are considering camping, The only snag is we dont really want to travel with our heavy camping equipment.
So need to know if there is anywhere you can hire camping equipment in the area. Things such as tents, sleeping bags, cooking equip etc. This will save us a lot of hassle if we can hire something locally.
We would also like to know if anyone can suggest good camp sites to visit. Ideally we just want a quite site with basic amenaties but within walking distance to local attractions Or if anyone can suggest any alternative accomodation which is reasonably priced would also be fantastic.
If anyone has any 'MUST SEE' pleaces to visit would also be a great help
Thanks in advance
Anthony
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You will probably fly into Exeter airport which is about 25 miles or so from torquay. I have not heard of any local hire company dealing with camping equipment, it really depends upon what you want, If you like hiking etc you could always bring a small bivvy tent, cooker and sleeping bag which would be enough to survive on, otherwise there are static caravans for hire at various sites in and around devon and cornwall.
In addition to this I do know of a place that hires out camper vans, but think this could be quite expensive.
Hotels in this region start from about £20 per person per night for bed and breakfast, it really depends on what you want.
There are some campsites that have ready erected tents, just like they do on the continent. Why not have a squiz on and see if ya come up with anything.
Of course, there's always statics to hire, all over the place- if you can find any vacant at this time of year
