We are planning to go to Devon with our tent and just wondered if any of you out there can point us towards a site right next to the sea. We have looked on the net and in books but would rather have word of mouth.
many thanks

Sorry but I don't know how to do a link to a campsite! but North Morte Farm in north Devon has a direct path to the beach and good reviews. We know it from using said path to leave the (smallish) beach and the site looked lovely! Very clean and lots of space. Beach was good too, great for rockpooling! The path isn't very long but a bit steep.
You have to walk through the campsites own woodland (v pretty) to get to 2 miles of sandy beach at Cofton Holiday Park, in Starcross, nr Dawlish, South Devon. Lovely clean site, nice staff, good facilities and beautiful David Bellamy conservation grounds (80 acres).
we live in Devon, hubby seems to recall one at Coombe Martin in north Devon but we cant remember the name - next to a cove, search on here and im sure you will find it!

Try Peppermint Park in Dawlish Warren,Devon. Big site but only a few minutes from the beach. Or Ladys Mile in Dawlish. It's a little bit further away from the beach but a very good site. We stayed there a few weeks ago.
Cofton is a beautiful site, Dawlish is lovely, Sheldon beach is a bit of a drive but god its worth it! oh and incidently have a clotted cream ice cream ( yum ) lol
Think one in Coombe Martin might be Watermouth Cove or Big Meadow theres a third one there on other side of road which we stayed at that was good too. Also on drive to Ilfracoombe from there (didnt get that far) found a lovely small beach and think there was site near it too

I've just returned from Big Meadow campsite at Ilfracombe. There is a beach within walking distance but unfortunately 220 steep steps down side of a cliff. Well worth the effort though but would be difficult with very small children. Fabulous!
