Hi

Can anyone recommend a good Family Site fairly near to Longleat, in Wiltshire. I don't mind driving 10-15 miles to get to Longleat. The park doesn't have to have a lot of facilities as we'll be going to the Safari park by day.

Thanks!

Try Newtom Mill just outside Bath - I am just back from there, great site and easy drive to Longleat (approx 20 miles?) where we had a great day out.

You could try here Piccadilly Lane  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=piccadilly&by=sitename which is near Laycock, Wiltshire.

It is a small, family site, in a very tranquil setting.  He has some lovely tent pitches and I don't think it's far to drive to Longleat from here.  Availability is good and he usually manages to book us in even at short notice, unlike some of the bigger, more commercialised sites.  The owner is normally happy to let you stay on your pitch into the afternoon on your day of departure too, which is a bonus.

The site does have play equipment and a large grassed playing field too.  It is very reasonably priced, so that you have more to spend in Longleat itself!  The facilities are immaculately kept.

I didn't think our nine-year old would enjoy the site particularly, as it is very low-key, but he declared he loved it!!

We had a great time at Brokerswood County Park here.

Great if you've got kids. Longleat don't take tents.

You can get a passport to Longleat and go back several days to do different things, but we found enough to do on the campsite and only went to Longleat one day!

Let me know if you want any more info!
