Hi JDC 110571

Have just come back (literally 2 hours ago!!!!!) from high Yedmandle farm campsite.  They like you to let them know you are coming, how long for and how many there will be and thats it till you get there!!!  When we arrived on Friday the owners were out for the day so we just followed the instructions from Isobel's e-mail of "pitch your tent and enjoy yourselves".  We did not see them until the Saturday tea time and paid for our pitch for 2 nights.  How is this for customer service......There was myself, my husband and 3 of our kids in one 9 berth tent, then my friend her partner and 1 child in there 6 berth tent, we also had a pup tent pitched in between us with a child from each family in.  When it came to the cost they said "lets just make it a straight £10 per night for each of the big tents and ignore the rest".  This campsite is so quiet and relaxing it is fantastic.  You are also close to other Towns (Scarborough, Bridlington and even York) and some fantastic villages that are so friendly and with wonderful pubs!!! The owners are so friendly and helpful and even allowed us to buy some of the eggs from their chickens to go with our sausage and bacon breakfast!! (at £1 a dozen for lovely fresh tasty eggs what more can you ask for????)

As Sunday was our leaving day we asked them what time they would like us to leave by, their reply was "when your up and ready, no need to go rushing!!!" We enjoyed a sleep in, relaxing breakfast and the kids had one more play with the friends they had made while we packed up.

This place is an absolute must for a return visit.  Whether you want to walk for miles, or just feed the owners horse, Borris.  Whether you want to visit big towns and use this place as a base or just sit back and relax.  We are already deciding when we are going back!!!

Loads of open space.  This is only our 2nd time camping but were extremely pleased that we felt safe to let the kids roam about or just feed the horse across the other side of the field.

Word of warning though!!!  When you arrive the road is only wide enough for 1 car,  there are a few places to pull over to allow another to pass, if you just keep to the main track you will find that when the road runs out you are there!!!!  As you pull in go past the 2 holiday cottages that will be on the right, past the 2 toilet and shower rooms (also on the right) and follow the track round to your right (the farmhouse is on the left)  go through the open farm gate (Boris the horse is on your right) and find the spot for you.  As the road in is the only one in or out and is quite long, and you are sorrounded by fields and bordering Wykeham Forest there is plenty of room.

When we were there this weekend there was about another 10 or 11 tents and our kids still managed a few games of rugby and football with other campers kids without getting in the way of other tents, and we had a badminton net set up.  As there is no main road nearby or through road it is nice to know that the only people around are the owners and fellow campers so you feel safe allowing the kids to roam.  Have a good time and I know you will enjoy it and feel relaxed.  If you enjoy getting back to nature and roughing it a bit this is for you (By that I mean no pot washing area and only 2 toilets both with a shower in, not getting back to nature in a naked way !!! LOL)
