Planning on going up there on Tuesday, anyone any tips, or information that might be useful. Going with family tent and gazibo, two adults, three kids, 14, 14, 10.
Open for discussion if anyone wants to chat. yb_1966 at hotmail.co.uk
Thanks.
Last though, Mobile phones, what is the network coverage up there for 02?

We didn't stay at Achmelvich but were up that way in June, mobile coverage is very patchy, but there are still quite a few payphones around.
Take the midge repellant. Fuel pricey, food pricey.

We have friends with no kids that often use this site and love it. I know the area and it will be outstanding. We wanted to go there this year but were worried that there would not be much to do if the weather is bad (we have 2 kids, aged 3 and 1). Your kids are a lot older and would be able to manage with that.
We have friends that regularly go to Gairloch Sand, a bit further south than ullapool. their kids are similar ages to yours and they say there is plenty to do.
Fuel, food etc. will be pricey but its the holidays! Have a great time!

Hi Bovril lady, I stumbled upon this post while doing a search on this site. We are also planning a trip here for next week but there's very little detail in the recent reviews and according to their web site, you can't reserve a pitch, which makes me worried in case it's full.
Any advice/experiences shared would be much appreciated.

I very much doubt it will be full, but as you are probably aware midge repellant, midge repellant and more midge repellant at this time of year.

We used Clachtoll rather than Shore campsite when we were there a few years ago.
Please be aware at Shore Caravan site, dogs are not allowed and you can only phone up on the morning of the day you arrive to check availability on Scottish school holidays which is now.
At this time of year and in this weather I wouldn't be sure that it will have vacancies.
As Garsoo said Sands at Gairloch is a great site and big too !
Hope you have a good time wherever you end up.
