Hi,

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced child friendly site with a sandy beach? Somewhere where hopefully it would be warm enough to have a splash in the sea (or a swimming pool)...

I'm looking to spend some time there with our caravan next week and we will be leaving from Edinburgh. It would be nice to have a large water slide too... Any ideas?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

CheeryPenguin

Thanks, Cheshirecraig.

I'll have to persuade the OH that it's worth driving till there. St Ives Bay is already booked til 26 of August. I could not see Finlake tariff prices for touring pitches (I'll have to check more on that). I know it will be a pain to find something available.

If you want a beach go to Clachtoll Beach camp site, its six miles from Lochinver but what a fantastic site this is, the beach is golden and the water is clear its the best site I have been on

Silversands, Arisaig.  Right on the waters edge. Its just perfect assuming your heading north of course.

Thanks jadenorthborder and tiggarsmum for your help. The beaches look fantastic.

I just wonder if the road leading to the campsite is good enough for driving a caravan (we had a bit of an adventure (read nightmare) getting stuck in the French wilderness on a steep narrow road where the car could not cope pulling the caravan).

Never been to Lochinver yet so I couldn't say, but loads of twin axels and huge motorhomes get to Arisaig no problem. The worst bit is the last 10 miles of the journey which is single track with passing places. Remember tour buses get up and down this road so you should't have a problem.

The road to Clachtoll Beach Campsite is the same, its a single track road with passing places, if you check out the campsite http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=Clachtoll&by=sitename and check the reviews.  You wont be dissappointed if you go to any of these sites, we are returning this year as its one of the best sites I have been to.
