hi, were new to camping and although i have searched throught the campsite list i am unsure where to go. We were planning to go to shell Island - but you cant pre book - so if we cant get a spot are there any nice campsites that you would reccomend near the beach? Thanks

We've been to Shell Island many many times and have never not got a space, there is so much room on there to chose.
If not try the link below, a friend of mine stays there rather than Shell Island.

Lol, Hendre Mynach and that railway line!
I lived in Harlech for a while in the mid-'90s and the train service around the Cambrian Coast is bizarre. At some time in the day you can have three trains in five hours, but then no train at all for another four hours. However, the first train along the line only runs from Barmouth to Machynlleth, leaving Barmouth at 06:45, but comes from Pwllheli and as twooks says their is a crossing at the entrance to the site to reach the prom. This means that (unless you are in a coma) you will be rudely woken by the train blasting its horn as it approaches the crossing at about quarter past six in the morning.
