Hi fellow members

I have a query and wonder if anyone may be able to advise me.

We have a caravan and a tent and love our breaks away with the kids.

We had been planning to get away during the summer holidays but our car has broken down and our only transport is the mercedes vito van, which is signwritten, that my hubby uses for work.

Am i rightt in thinking that many sites do not like having commercial vehicles on site?

Does any one know of any sites in the south devon cornwall area that don't mind commercials. Or do i have to spend my weekend ringing round them all to find one that is ok with commercial vans?

Thanks

If you need EHU then I reckon you'll need to phone around anyway just to get a pitch as late as this as Devon and Cornwall sites are really, really full during the school hols. So, find a pitch first then ask about the van.

If you don't need EHU then you might have more chance of getting a pitch as some sites open up overflow fields for the school hol period although these are then obviously further from the facilities such as pool, shop etc. but sometimes have portaloos in them, sometimes not.

You'd perhaps be better off trying to find a smaller, family run site rather than a commercial one when you're more likely to speak to someone on the phone who can discuss your situation with you and hopefully see reason and be sympathethic whereas if you try a big commercial site the staff aren't always very interested in anything that doesn't "fit the criteria" and haven't the authority to make decisions that are "outside the box".

Our van isn't signwritten, but I always mention it when phoning or in emails.  We tend to go for smaller sites, and often on farms where it seems to blend in with the farm vehicles!  Some sites say in their conditions that they won't accept commercial vehicles.  I emailed a number of sites recently trying to find somewhere for August Bank Holiday - using the emails on their websites and all got back to me within 48 hours.  Did finally manage to book close to where we wanted to be.

Trevornick accepts them, noticed on or two dotted about the place last week.
