Exmoor zoo is a must it is very reasonably priced and it is a wonderful visit for all family members, they have hands on sessions and talks throughout the day.

any one whos been to the dinosaur place or watermouth castle would be handy cos not sure if there worth the money.

We went to the Dinosaur park when we stayed in Combe Martin (I posted this in that link). It depends on what you consider worth the money - we had done the place in 1.5 hours mainly because our children (5 & 4) speed round places. They do things like feeding the sealions etc all at staggered times of the day, which is ok if you plan on staying all day, but we rarely do so didn't see things like that. For us the best bits were heading out on Exmoor, or following the coast road and playing in the rock pools on the beach. Lynton & Lynmouth and the steam cliff railway were a lovely visit.

Pick up a leaflet about a place called ' The Big Sheep' it is a bit of a drive but well worth the vist we had a great day there. There is also a tourist information place in the Village of Combe Martin, which will be you nearest village about 2I miles from were you are staying. I have found them very helpful in the past.

There won't be anything comparable to Warwick castle there - you need to get out in the country on Exmoor or go to Clovelly. We were amazed at Porlock hill - we were in the motorhome - managed to get up there but you wouldn't want to do that with a caravan! We went to Westward Ho! as well for some surfing - you could go to Croyde too.
I would agree that there isn't anything huge like Warwick Castle or Drayton Manor. There is Arlington Manor, a National Trust place or take a trip further along the A39 to Clovelly which is a lovely village perched on a steep slope. You park at the top and walk down (or take the Land Rover ride) and it's a cobbled walk all the way. Pretty harbour and nice pub at the bottom for lunch. Steep walk back up! Pedestrian access only.

Also just thought of Lundy Island - it's off the north coast of Devon/Cornwall, quite a nature reserve, you can get boat trips from Ilfracombe and Bideford - well worth a day visit I'd have thought?!
