we're planning a trip to Devon  in September with our bikes to try the Tarka Trail.  Is there a possibility that someone can recommend a site not too far from the Trail which has great views, has flat pitches, is peaceful, has good facilities and is not too expensive!!  We'd also like a few coastal walks.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Have looked on Camp Site search for sites near Barnstaple but they all seem to have inadequate shower facilities!

We have stayed at Lobb Fields, just outside Braunton.  Great site but the showers are a bit elderly.  Having said that, they are clean and the water is hot and it wouldn't put me off going again!  We stayed at Warcombe Farm, Mortehoe,  last weekend and the showers there are absolutely fantastic - to be seen to be believed! 

You can pick the trail up in Braunton itself or at Barnstaple which is what we have always done.  We have only ever gone from Barnstaple to Bideford but it is fantastic.  It's so lovely to be able to cycle on a flat path, no traffic and the views are amazing!

We had a weekend down there just last weekend and did a short trip one afternoon to Instow.  We even got our 15 year old daughter on a bike for the first time in about two years and she had the time of her life!
