Hi we are going to  Wansbeck Riverside Park Caravan & Camping Site over bank holiday for our first ever camping trip and we read the reviews on here and are very impressed and looking forward to going, but some of the reviews are very dated.  Has anyone been recently? We would really appreciate any comments or advice.

Thanks melanie jane it does look nice we are just hoping weather is nice too as I worry that if it is not too good I may have trouble persuading kids to come next time lol

I live just along the road from this site

Its a quaint site set right on the banks of the river so watch out if you have any little uns.

Unfortunately swimming is not recommended on the river.

The top terrace has a number of seasonal pitched vans, but some larger tents and Tt get on, tents tend to be on the lower terrace.

Not to frighten you but keep any valuables locked away in the boot as you are exposed to the public footpath.

The walk or bike along the river to the coast is about 3 miles,

hi shielsey.. thnx for info.... we've just had a drive up as we only live in newcastle and it looks very nice I think we are going to be in field down bottom, which kind of suits us as it looks more private tho security thing is an issue as u say, do you know if that path gets very busy at night with non campers ? Can u recommend any more sites that are local to us as wife would like to have first couple of trips away fairly close just incase baby wont settle , she then could just take him home without it being a chore.. I am sure he will love it but he's teething lol

Hi Guys,I have never been to this site but probably never would cos I live about 5 miles away.

Should be plenty of things for you to do in the wansbeck area but that always depends on the weather. If you have a car try and get to some of the local country parks and down to newbiggin which is a nice little town and has the beach

have any of you thought of trying newbiggin they have a few sites and are closer to the beach

Well we did it, got everything in car (just ) and away we went to wansbeck . tent went up first time and sun shone !!! now I am totally hooked roll on summer !!!!! 

Was just wondering if anyone of here was there from mon to fri .... we were ones with 7 month old son who liked to sing himself to sleep in bottom field lol

as I said we are totally hooked and thanks everyone for all the advice thats been given on here

oh and is it just me that loves the sound the rain makes on the tent as u are snuggled up warm in sleeping bag ? wife thinks i have lost the plot !!!!!
