Hi
I'm looking for somewhere to go camping over the bank holiday weekend and I've seen a web site for St Davids near Bennelech on Anglesey. I wondered if anyone knew if it's any good. It looks nice.

We go to Benllech twice a year with a caravan. This site is quite nice its near enough on the beach. We've had a look round it but we can't use it because they don't take caravans or dogs, only tents and motorhomes. The thing I will say is that it can get very windy on there and it is rather exposed and it's usually chocka especially bankholidays

stayed at st .davids park in bennellech numerous times and it is a very good site, pub on site, toilets are very clean. in one of the camping fields the ground is very hard and rocky underneath so you may need a good sized lump hammer to get your pegs in.

Haven't stayed their this summer or last because it just to bloody expensive now, about £27 peak times and personally i don't think any piece of ground is worth that much to pitch a tent on.

Also, last time we stayed there they did tend to cram a lot of tents on aswell.

Used to stay at a nice little campsite in Solva which is right near St. Davids. Solva is a gorgeous place.

St Davids and Solva are in South Wales. The St Davids Camp Site is on Anglesey. I have been to Solva and you are quite right it is a lovely place.

hi we went to Anglesey at the end of July and we stayed at Rhos Caravan Park, we did however go and have a look around St Davids it seemed to me like you tenters where just put on a field at the end of the site right on the headland so you are very open to the elements and we have had friends lose there tent in high winds.  I also thought it was a little expensive £25 we were quoted and I dont care how proud of there toilet and shower block they are this was to expensive for us, considering that we had paid £14 on a site just up the road that had more toilets and showers, fair enough no pub but there was one just across the road.

I stayed there2 weeks ago, It was my first camping trip, so I cant compare it to anywhere. I have to say I was very impressed by the facilities, the shower block has about 5/6 hot ( and free) showers about 5 toilets and about 6 urinals (the mens room obviously, never got chance to try out the ladies) there was a family room which included a large bath, ideal for getting the kids done, and outsde these where 2 washing up stations, this was the only downside, as you had to queue at times.

You are on the headland, but we had a windbreak up, so the wind didnt really bother us. They have there own private beach, which is spotlessly clean and absolutley amazing views or the Welshmountains. The pub on site is very nice, but because it was raining on the Sunday night, they stopped taking food orders at 6pm, due to most of the site deciding not to cook, but we found a top pub restraunt 2 mins away, right in Red Wharf Bay, overlooking where the boats come in, called the Ship, food was a bit pricey, but out of this world.

There is also a kids playground and video games room on site.

I would give this site 9/10, but as I said it was my first trip.

£25 a night for a tent!!! you cannot be serious! Valley of the Rocks at Treaddur Bay is £9.50 for a caravan with electric. You could try there if you don't want a hook up in you tent, but the camping field is along way from the loos and when we were there no loo paper, but the loos are clean although basic (and if you are fat you probably couldn't get in them!)

If you became a member of the Camping and Caravan club you could stay on their certificated sites which are cheap and usually very good.

Maybe thats why you pay £25 a night, also you dont get tents full of tanked up lads drinking till the early hours of the morning
