i commute on the M5 in Devon daily. there are no roadworks on the M5 at the moment, pretty clear and free running at non peak times.
with after the M5, depends which way you go, the A30 you have roadworks at whiddon down/merrymeet (roundabout works)...avoid stopping at these services if you can as they are chocca and its mental in there!
The roadworks on the A30 are Bodmin, Indian Queens Road Improvements, they are going to be around for awhile. We came back last saturday from Bodmin and the traffic was pretty bad, left Bodmin at about 11:30 and the traffic going into Cornwall was quite bad. I think you'll be fine travelling on any day except a Saturday and leaving at that time. We spent quite a bit of time up and back on the A30 during the ten days we were there and it only seemed to be a problem on the Saturday.
Hope you have a great time ... wish I was still there ... Quinnys
We found the same. Travelled down on a Sunday and back on a Friday and had no hold-ups at all but have heard of people being stuck for hours on Saturdays.

Am really looking forward to it. Never been to Cornwall before only Devon - Dawlish and Torquay area. Getting worried about all the stories I hear about traffic jams and trouble finding somewhere to park. Hope the weather improves. Hate putting tent up in wet. Think I'll sit in car with dog and let him do it! Saves arguments!!
We travelled down to trevornick, which you have to pass Monkey Tree to get to, on a Friday, and we flew through with no hold ups at all. People arrivinh on the Saturday had endured a nightmare to get there.
We went throught them Sunday morning with no trouble, but coming back yesterday about 4pm a totally different kettle of fish, it took ages.
Hope you have better weather than we did, very cold, wet and windy, was supposed to come home Saturday, but sons bedding got soaked in awning annexe and rain was relentless.
