You are right Fogey. Its no problem to me.

Like I said from my earlier post I don't use the ccc sites now.

No problem then

Hello Papadore, seems you can't relax in the comfort of your awning after 11pm, what a shame

JeanJeanie, this website is for people to express their views but also to take others into consideration. Your remarks seem a little sarcastic and critical - after all, camping appeals to all for various reasons and there are various types of sites for people to enjoy camping in different ways. You enjoy camping in your way and allow others to enjoy it in their way without mockery or assumptions of character-types.

To go back to the original posted question and the expressed increduality of people going to bed at whatever time they choose ("Do people really go to bed at 10 on holiday? They must be getting too much fresh air and exercise! "), Anne, no I don't got to bed often at this time, but if I chose to I would not expect to be ridiculed by you in this way. However, my young children are fast asleep at this time and I would prefer them not to be woken by car engines, lights, chat etc that usually entails people returning back to their camping homes after a night out.  11pm is therefore a good time for me.

Jeanjeanie

In 19 posts you have made your views quite clear.  You don't like CC or C&CC sites or the people that use them.

Any recommendations of livelier sites for those of us who like to vary our experiences.  Quiet sometimes, lively other times.

Angie....... Jeff and Anne... I am sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone.  I have met some very nice people on these sites, but was trying to understand why everyone has to watch out for that dreaded hour 11pm.

I was answering and airing my views in my 19 posts..

I'll say no more.

Jeanjeanie I can relax in my awning but I am always very aware about noise affecting others, I myself might want to be in bed early on the first night of arrival at camp particularly if I've had a long and stressful tow to get to the site and am shattered, years ago I stayed on a site where a group of I guess under 20 somethings were partying until 3 in the morning, boy did I get the hump and so did all the campers around them so I know very well how noise affects people on camp, its all about consideration really, we all go camping to enjoy ourselves and I wouldn't enjoy myself if I knew I had upset my camping neighbours.

S'OK Jeanjeanie.  You're perfectly entitled to your views and I don't think anyone is offended.   I just wondered why that is the only topic you seem to be interested in.

Perhaps the 'dreaded hour 11pm' is in response to popular demand by members.  The C&CC sites seem to fill up pretty quickly and everyone is aware of the rules so they must be happy with it or they, like you, wouldn't go there.

Surely it's in everyone's interest that the sites make their regulations clear and that they are enforced.

If you want to party all night go to a site that allows that where you will be surrounded by like minded people. Equally so, people who prefer peace and quiet go to sites that encourage that.  There's more than enough choice to go around for everyone. No one is forced to stay on a site they aren't happy with.

Re motorhomes/cars leaving sites early............the CC site at Black Horse Farm near Folkstone has one of those "early departure areas" near the gate and a bit away from the rest of the site, and very pleasant it is too.

The first time we went over the channel (1999) we had a noon ferry but found that ,as we were only staying one night, we had been allocated a space in this area.  I expect we could have changed it, but we knew no better!   Never again!!!

Come 4am the motorhomes started leaving.  Now, why do they have to sit with their engines running for ages first?   Why do they have to loudly discuss the route with their travelling companions , shout greetings to each other etc?  AT 4AM??!!!

Having almost got back to sleep we were rudely awoken by the 5am brigade!  And so it went on until we gave up trying to sleep and got up at 8am.

And the cars with caravans were not much better!

Luckily OH managed to take a nap on the ferry and we were not going too far that day.

I'm not usually a fan of making a racket on site, but I suppose some people with early ferries might actually welcome the early morning noise to make sure they do wake up.

As you didn't have an early start it's unfortunate that you were allocated a pitch on that section of the site. If you hadn't been before it's not something you'd think to question. That's where UKCS comes in handy. Someone booking into the site at a later date will be aware.

Never have stayed on a club site in a tent, always a caravan. We are not late back, usually about 11.30 and it is annoying having to leave the car outside. We have not driven into a tent yet!

you may not have stayed in a tent but lots of others have . and noise travels when your in a tent

there are reasons to go to bed early

if you are not on electric its better to go to bed when its dark and getting cold instead of trying to stay awake and get warm.

our grandson is usually asleep by that time so we go too .

the birds etc in a morning ensure we are up early lol

the barriers on the C and C sites are not just to stop members returning they are also security for everyone.

the Cand C have a reputaion for the quieter sites thats why most don't have pubs or clubs on site .

thats why we go to them.

rules are a good thing at lest you know where you stand

Paragraph 2.. No noise in the summer months, how sad.  You must love winter.

Hello Gailk.. I don't anymore, too regimental for me, no laughter, tip toeing around, all eyes watching out for a wrong move. But like you said everyone to there own.

Just a thought what do you do in the winter.

I never said anything about no noise - in summer or any other season or time of day or night.  Like Galik, I don't understand your comments about winter either.

You're just twisting what people are saying to stir things up.  You've already admitted you don't stay on these sites any more, so what's the problem?

Personally I think it's time this subject was closed, it's not even an informed discussion any more.

Nora

Geez - O _ Pete!!!!!!!!!

Your other half must need a holiday to get over his holiday. All the worry must take it's toll. I can imagine the stress of walking into a pub with no pool table then having to twitch the curtains to see if the motor has been stolen? .......

Sorry I can't go on I'm getting all emotional here. Just give him a good rub down with horse liniment' He won't feel like complaining about anything ever again after that

I agree Nora - I stopped posting on this thread as I could see the direction it was taking (and I still don't understand why what I do in winter is about - but I'm sure its a dig !!!!)

Hi Jeanjeanie,

glad someone agrees! For all you others, we make as little noise as possible when returning and that is usually no later than 11.30. Topic now closed!
