Hi all,
I'm new to these forums (made one post five minutes ago!).
We're looking to go camping in a couple of weeks, just for two nights in North Devon. So far, thanks to these forums, I've narrowed the sites down to:

o Hidden Valley
o Stowford Farm Meadow
o Big Meadow
o Warcombe Farm

We have a Diablo 600, which we just bought. We've not been camping before, although we have pitched the tent and slept in it for one night. We're looking for a nice clean quiet site good for families. We do need an EHU.

Many thanks for your thoughts

Chris.

What about Newberry Farm?!! Walking distance from Combe Martin and the beach, great rock pools, flat pitches with EHU, great children's playing area too as well as big pond with ducks to feed!

Hidden Valley is a lovely site, but you may find that at certain times they impose a minimum of 5 nights stay. We tried to get in there for this BH weekend and was told that we could only do so if we booked for 5 nights or more.

Thanks for the feedback. I suspect any of the sites I've listed will be good in actual fact - its just hard to decide when you've not been camping before.

Hi Chris

We've stayed at Big Meadow and Warcombe Farm, both are great.  Hidden Valley looks nice but it is on a very busy road.  Warcombe Farm is very quiet and has gorgeous facilities and Big Meadow has great owners!  Tell me what you are planning to do on your holiday and I might be able to help as in do you have little ones and what type of thing are you planning to do wth them.  Great area to go to! but I am biased....having been there 3 years on the run.

Regards

Thanks again for so much feedback - I'm really enjoying using these forums, they're a God-send.

Well, we've just booked Warcombe Farm (using the online booking - althought I'm not sure it worked!). Although they are a little expensive - 22 quid a night. We're only staying for two nights though, so we thought "why not?". I rang Stowford Farm, and although for the dates we're looking for, they were alot cheaper, I got the impression that its more of a holiday park, which can get noisy or roudy.

Kim - We've been meaning to go camping for 11 years, since we get married! Our last experiences of camping were as children, so this is all new to us, tents have changed a lot. We now have our own sprog (5 year old girl). So we're looking for somewhere that is a nice introduction to camping. Campsite needs to be quiet and relaxing, have good showers and toilets, and we prefer not to have lots of onsite bars and entertainment. Friendly staff and campers are a must! (not into the holiday parks really). We're going for two nights, 31st Agust and 1st September, and we need to be located not too far from Barnstaple, as we have a wedding to go to on the Saturday.

We have just come back from Westermill Farm in Exford.  Found it clean, friendly and environmentally advanced! Solar showers, recycling...We had to whisper after 11 pm as everyone had gone to bed.  Lovely stream (River Exe) kept the children absorbed for the entire three days leaving us free to chat and read the paper with occasional stone skimming forays.  Was lovely.  Would recommend it to anyone.
