Just back from a four day visit to Warren Farm, first ever camping trip and took our two young grandchildren - here's my impression.

Firstly all the staff - reception / bar / shop / were really helpful and actually listened to what you wanted.

The pitch was perfect and easily accomodated up to two cars, large tent and awning (no extra charge for the awning)

There are toilet blocks in each of the 6 fields, ours was immaculate and regularly cleaned. The block included free hair dryers, the showers (10 in the block) cost 50p for 8 mins. The laundry room has three washers and the industrial size tumble driers are only 50p for 20mins. The washing up area had around 10 sinks with draining racks.

The shop was not unreasonably priced given it was 'on site' (open from 7:30am - 10:00pm) The kids had a good playbarn on site with varied amusements. The adjoining watering hole had entertainment for kids and adults and an excellent carvery/restaurant. Food was served hot and at the same time for multiple orders.

There is a pathway that leads directly to the second largest beach in Europe (just one minor road to cross)

I'd better stop now as this is getting to much like an unpaid advert........

Can't praise the site enough! Check it out for yourselves, highly recommended!

i have just come back from there too the only downside to that park is it will not allow single campers, this stricks me as warren farm is the largest camping and caravan park in brean but never mind, great for me and my mum

Well I have to agree about the site etc, 100% no probs at all, BUT,,, call me ol fashioned , when I go to the seaside, I like to see the sea, brean sands? is a joke ,the sea goes out so far its too far to walk to, & if you do venture towards it, a smashing chap in a vehicle, calls to you on the tannoy to return to the so called beach or else!!Now dont get me wrong here, I really enjoyed my very recent stay there, especially up on the hill exploring the WW2 remains & brean fort etc, but living in lincs & being spoilt by places nearby , ( norfolk for example ), the sea is actually always within paddling distance, high or low tide, complete with all manner of sea life in the abundant rock pools etc etc, ALL of which are non existant at brean. (mainly),
It takes an awful lot to give my wife something really bad to gripe about, but Brean sands did the job nicely.
Once again I reiterate, no probs at all with ALL the site amenities, shops, pubs, food etc etc, but as Ive heard recently from people who live wery nearby, its just a big mudflat joke!!
Oh & while were on the subject of the beach, Ive never been to one where bleedin vehicles are allowed to roam up & down the beach, practically knockin down recently built sandcastles by kids, who sometimes nip out of their way just in time!!!

you were there then poppi, oh the wind, the wind, the wind.... well i was in my tent (see gallery) and i survived, i didnt think i would as its an ebay tent and everyone feared the worst but its great must say though never pitch the door in the path of the wind.... still we had a car and windshield to help lol :) some of the tents looked sorry for themselves in the morning though, one was so badly damaged that the owner just wraped it up bunged it in the car and drove off... oh well the joys of camping

we were there when ukcs had a meet there. I think it's always windy there. They have good dog exercising areas although my skye terrier slipped his lead and took off across the greenish pond after the ducks and geese and we didn't even know he could swim! poor fishermen he must have scared all the fish off

Don't know what happened there - posted when I clicked 'quote'....anyway they certainly allowed me to camp there on my own when I went there, year before last I think. I had booked for the main site but when I got there I asked if I could go on their quieter site (Sunnyside). No problems at all, they just transferred me.

Could it be age related do you think?

The wind is very, very real, and the beach is a thin strip of beautiful golden sand followed by miles and miles of mud. Even when the tide is in, if you go into the sea, you get muddy.
Brean itself (In my opinion) is a bleak, yet over colourful, nasty, souless, money grabbing type place.
Warren farm campsite however is very nice, shame about it's location.

Brean consists of a very long coastal road. On one side over the dunes is the beach and on the other side are nothing but campsites. Warren Farm is just one of them., Northam Farm is another.

As stated, I went to Warren farm year before last and Northam farm last year. They are all flat sites and quite large and commercialised. Both Warren and Northam have fishing lakes and they cater for families and children. There is a large fairground, bars/restaurants/takeaways/fish and chips and clubs, so pretty much like any seaside resort really.

As somebody has mentioned...you are unlikely to see the sea, although it must come in some time! Brean sands is a wide expanse of beach which starts off just under the sandhills with nice soft sand but then quickly flattens out into a large width of flat hard sand. Beyond that it becomes dangerous mud and quicksands into which many people have ventured to their regret. There are warning signs every few yards so no danger for those that can read!

Vehicles are allowed along the beach on the hard sand. These don't normally interfere with families playing or sitting below the sandhills. It is not always windy, in fact the first time I went it was unbearably hot, and the second time it was comfortable although Brean is renowned for being windy and the beach is at times used for wind sports.

There isn't a great deal to see at Brean itself although you can walk literally for miles and climb Brean Down which has a fort at the top. There is also a cafe and a small exotic bird aviary...mostly parrots.

Burnham on Sea is a short drive (or a long walk) along the coastal road. I didn't go there but it is supposed to be quite a nice resort and Weston Supermare is in the other direction. It's not far (about 12 miles) to Cheddar Gorge, also Wookie Hole, Glastonbury etc; so there is plenty to do in the area.

Hope this helps

We went to Warren Farm with 2 teenagers - never to be repeated, great if you have children of play park age as they are well catered for but my girls were bored and just argued. Later on in the year we went to Haven in Burnham on Sea, I know a lot of people don't like Haven sites but with teenage daughters there was plenty there for them to do and even more if you had little ones.

Quite honestly would never go back to Warren Farm again unless on an organised meet, nothing wrong with the site except there was not enough to do for the girls.
