Hi everyone

Just returned from 2 weeks in South Wales and ready to think of next Summer!!

We are looking aroung the South Devon/Dorest area, and although we are fairly new to caravanning we camped for years and we are geting picky in our old age.

We need a flat, extremely clean site, with a playground and swimming pool (not chargeable and not necessarily indoor). Also lots of space to explore, preferably woods for the kids, and not too far from a beach (5-10 miles).

After experience of commercial v. family sites we definitely prefer smaller sites, but find we struggle to find the facilities for the kids, as they are aged 6, 12 and 15 - a difficult mix of ages.

Would Cofton Country Park fit the bill? Looks OK online and reviews are OK on here too. It's our main fortnight's holiday, and we can't afford to make a mistake!!

Thanks.

Hi,

We went to Cofton a few years back now (5) when we were first introducing mother to camping, it must have been good as she still goes camping and upgraded from a tent to a folding camper.

From what I can remember Coften was lovely. Hubby really enjoyed himself as they have their own fishing lake.  The pitches are of normal size if there is such a thing on flat ground and quite different as the pitches were on differnent levels like steps.

My kids loved the outdoor swimming pool (depending on weather of course) and the food in the pub/clubhouse was excellent.

From first experience I would recommend this to you.

If you go let us know how you got on as I know Hubby would like to return without mother in law next time

Regards

Mark & Debbie

Beverley Park looks lovely but at £44 a night for us it's a bit steep.

Thanks.

Hi Kinza123

We stayed there last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went in September and use Camping Cheques.

The site is terraced but individual pitches are flat. Toilets and showers wre clean with plenty hot water, fishing is excellent, swimming pool good, pub meals good value as is the takeaway.

I am sure you would enjoy it.

Yes Cofton fits the bill perfectly. You can walk right through the woods to Dawlish Warren. There is an adventure playground in the woods. BUT (and there's always a but isn't there?) It does get very full in the school holidays. Pitches are marked and so its not over crowded but even if you book you just get pitched on arrival. We waited on the side while people packed up to get a pitch near fishing but it was worth it for a fantastic ten days. Pub grub is ok and there's a take away as well.

I went to Cofton Farm every year as a child/teenager and loved it, I cannot comment on the modern Cofton as I have'nt been for years, but  I would not describe the site  as flat I remember it being quite hilly in parts. Would'nt you like to use your 2 weeks touring , its a shame to stay in one place when there is such beautiful places to see in that part of the country we had a fabulous holiday this year it only takes a little more effort and it reaps rewards !  Rosie

this site is fantastic, we had to leave early due to family illness but the few days we had there was excellant the pool is lovely and is life gaurded there is also a grass area for youto lounge around on whilst the kids play in the pool. The site has plenty of grassy areas for the kids to play on, fantastic atmosphere when we went all the kids were playing with each other.

Although the site is huge i was really impressed that around 11pm the site is still really quiet! not often heard of on a site this size. The facilities were constantly cleaned and situated all around the park.

The shop is quiet reasonably priced their freshly made bread rolls are fantastic especially to put the bacon on in the morning.

There is a fish shop which sells stuff like pasties, chinese as well all is nice to save cooking and if anyone is interested in fishing including the kids there is some really good fishing lakes even nice for a walk around.

The beach in dawlish warren is really nice for the kids could easily spend all day relaxing there.

I'm sure you won't be disapointed with this site, hope you have a nice time where ever you go!
