Could someone please help?  We are travelling to Newquay, Cornwall on Friday evening at around 7pm, trying to miss the bank holiday rush!  My husband is going to keep going until we are close to the campsite - Hendra.  Does anyone know of a site that we could stop overnight at that will allow us to turn up at 1amapprox, no electric, just put jacks down, sleep and go at 9am the next day?

Hendra wanted £25.00 to do this, trying to get a cheaper option.

Thank you

3 more sleeps to go..................

When we went to Newquay we stayed over night at Kennford at Exeter. Lovely clean site. Nothing was a problem

There is an industrial estate within spitting distance of Hendra, why not park up in Morrison's or Lidl's car park for those few hours.  There are quite a few layby's approaching Newquay from Bodmin too.

Thank you for this.  Might try the layby stop, As long as it is safe for the children.

You can park at the motorway services second to last.  They have a special area for caravans to park overnight.

Amazing coincidence! I have just come on the message board to ask the same question. Travelling down to Bude on Friday evening and wanted to stop within a couple of hours drive of the campsite so we could arrive relatively early on Saturday.

If you are still here Topper, can you tell me the services that you are referring to as it sounds perfect. Thanks.

We travelled overnight to Cornwall 2 weeks ago and stopped at Taunton deane Services. It was full of caravans that had stopped overnight and were moving on early in the morning. They do charge £8 for an overnight but I think thats quite good value.

To DeeH I think Nigel16 is correct the services are called Taunton Deane Services.  You can park in the normal car park for 2 hours for free, but as stated there is a charge to park for longer.  We normally stop there for two hours and set an alarm clock and then set off again.  Stop a while later for breakfast and aim to arrive at destination as early as possible.  The roads tend to get busy as the morning progresses.  Enjoy your trip to Bude.  We went last year - the site we stayed at was not the best one but the beaches were great.  If you have children the main beach at Bude is good as it has a seawater swimming pool which is manned by life guards.  My daughter and her friends loved it.  Happy holidays!!

Thanks for the info, we will definitely aim for Taunton Deane. Hope the weather picks up as the whole point of the holiday is to spend every day on the beach!
