Hi can anyone recommend or suggest a site in the Lakes for 2 families of 2 adults and 2 kids each that may have tent pitches left available for the weekend coming (Sat & Sun), within walking distance of a family friendly pub if there is any chance!!
Hopefully

normally would say Langdale NT site but to be honest you need to get there friday afternoon to get a spot so def no chance there, however Chapel Stile farm site just before then takes all the overflow that cant get in there, its a pretty good site, generaly always space, not sure if they take bookings but worth giving them a call to find out.

We have just come back from the camping and caravanning site in Keswick which was brilliant. Right on the lake and only a 10 minute walk into the town. I would recommend it
I have sent out a few emails and made several phone calls, all to no avail. Do you think there is a likely chance of spaces if we turn up on the Saturday morning on spec. We only live in Kendal so even if we have spent the day driving round the lakes and find nothing we can always come back home and pitch in the back garden.
I rang Castlerigg Farm a couple of weeks ago to ask how to bag a pitch for the bank holiday weekend. The lady was very nice and suggested arriving at about 8.00am and waiting for a pitch. In the same area you've got Castlerigg Hall, the Camping and Caravanning Club site in Keswick and Scotgate plus others (I think) where you could do the same thing if you get there early. Good luck.

Well we went from Kendal to Threlkeld, through Keswick and down past Thirlmere, Grasmere and Windermere. Lovely drive but not a pitch in site, we ended up in the back garden of a friend of a friend in Troutbeck Bridge (the lower one). Huge garden, with private lake access, and although it thundered and lightened and chucked it down most of the weekend, we had a fab time. Even spotted a couple of great looking sites to try on quieter weekends than August bank holiday!

I wish I would read things properly . Here I am giving you suggestions and you`ve already been!
Thanks anyway, rang Fisherground on saturday morning and they chuckled down the phone at me when I asked if there was any chance of 2 pitches. Still had a great weekend and will try your suggestions before the winter arrives for real.
