We have just returned from a camping trip to Shropshire. We had chosen an adults only site to spend bank holiday with our 2 best friends and my niece and nephew in law and another niece.We had chosen this site because of it's outstanding reviews on this website.
My 26 year old niece and nephew in law were given a 10 minute lecture when they arrived about how they should behave, no noise, be polite etc, which as far as we can see was based solely on their age as neither me and OH or our friends were greeted like this.He added that he didn't want the caravanners disturbed!
To follow that up on more than one occassion when they went to the toilet (this happened once when I was with them) he appeared outside and watched them all the way back. We were quiet and behaved at all times and I found the assumption of "well they're under 30 must be trouble" very offensive.
There was noise, but it was made by a large group by a caravan who must have drink a year's supply of Carling Black label!
The 4 other tents on the site were on flat land by the caravans but seperated by a wooden fence but we were placed way a way from anyone on the sloping part of the site right by huge digging works. So all in all were made to feel like lepers.
It rained very heavily and the way to the loos turned into a mud bath for us so we cut through a very large space between 2 caravans to get onto the gravel path to avoid slipping and falling on the mud. My 2 friends were soundly told off by the male owner as he saw them do it adding "you'll disturb the caravanners!"
Also one of the carvanners had a German Shepherd and a Bull Terrier and he never said a word about him allowing them off thier lead even with the Geman Shepherd got close to us.(And yes he was watching)
Ihave submitted a review of this site also adding the positive points of the site (so i wonder if it'll get posted??) but I really believe that the male owner does not want anyone under the age of 40 on his site and has serious issues about people in tents!
We choose to camp in a tent we could easily afford a caravan but we don't want one. That is no critisims of caravanners as each to their own and I am sure those on the site thought we were mad when the torrential rain was pouring down.
This was the first ever camp for one of my nieces and both nieces and nephew in law went home a day early. It was our last camp of the season and it was spoilt it for all of us.
We have been camping for 3 years and always behaved with respect to all as we do in our everyday lives but this man's behaviour was at best age discriminatory and at worst highly questionable. Needless to say we won't be going back there.

Topic: Discrimination by age
The writer rambles on about how families should be segregated from couples, people with dogs on the whole are angelic (dog owner no kids I bet) and the best bit and I quote "tents and trailer tents should be kept away from caravanners, or an extra distance should be left between he two when they occupy adjacent pitches. We've had breaks spoiled because trailer tents aren't as soundproof caravans and you can hear lots of chatter" Me thinks they should stick to a field on their own away from any human kind, especially the horrendous ones with the audacity to be under canvas chatting to their kids !! 
we left a site in Devon because we felt the endless rules and signs were oppresive , most people know how to behave without being told to.Caravan/camping site owners should not forget that we are their bread and butter without us they have..... a field
