Hi everybody!!

I would very much appreciate hearing your recommendations for sites in and around the Keswick area in the Lake District that would be ideally suitable for a group camp consisting of about 10 to 15 units.

I am the organiser for a group of old schoolfriendswe are all fast approaching our fifties I am sad to say(!!)that have just returned from a very successful and enjoyable week long camping and caravanning holiday in the Yorkshire Dales/Moors. We are now looking at having another group holiday in the Keswick area next summer that would cater for those camping and caravanning - we also require electric hook-ups for the caravans and one or two tents, plus well maintained toilet and shower facilities on the site.

We are not a loud or noisy group and are very mindful of the other campers staying on the site. We do have children of various ages.

Do you have any suggestions please for suitable sites in and around, or not far from, Keswick itselfI am already very familiar with the CCC sites in Keswick as we have stayed there on numerous occasions to date on our own. I don’t think, however, that this campsite would be ideal for our group as we would prefer a much quieter and less busy campsite if at all possible!!

Many thanks

Daddycamper

I know of a few sites in Keswick, but none of those accept bookings, it`s just first come first served. Plus a lot of them don`t do EHU for tents. We liked the look of Castlerigg Hall but it doesn`t do EHU.

At least I will bring your post back to the top for you and hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Many thanks for that Jacqui - much appreciated.

As we will be part of a group, we must pre-booked our pitches in advance as we do not want to be disappointed on the first day of the camp if we are unable to all get onto the same campsite as each other!!!

I am hoping that some people will be able to come up with recommendations as this would be a great help!!

Cheers!!

Years ago a large group of us used to meet every year at the Scotgate site at Braithwaite, about 3 miles from Keswick.  I have not camped there for a few years, although last Christmas I did stay at one of the two hotels within about 100 yards of the site.
It is a nice level site, there are probably reviews about it .

Many thanks Bernie.

I have just had a look at their website and although this looks a lovely site, they state that they do not accept groups

Oh well, back to the drawing board!!

I've just been up to the lakes and noticed lots of tempoary CC&C sites, some which appeared to have Rallies on there.  Would getting in contact with the CC&C regarding a tempoary site be of any use?

The only other sites im aware of are nearer Penrith and Appleby which is really too far away I would think!

Park Foot on Ullswater near Penrith is good. We have stayed there a couple of times and I think they take group bookings but I`m not a 100% on that.

Castlerigg hall is great - but don't know about EHU for tents - they certainly have it for vans! Just back from Troutbeck head C Club site between penrith and keswick - fantastic site but dont think they do tents.....good luck!
