I agree with adandemsmom about Whitecliff Bay, we stayed there in June this year, and really liked the site, although I am not sure how it would be during August time, it was quite quiet when we went. The camp site is well away from everything, some people complain it is too far, but we liked it that the camping area was so far away, (only a 5-10 min walk), It has a lovely beach, nice pools, and our kids did enjoy the evening "party dances" with Humphray Bear, we didnt use any daytime entertainment. We will definately be going back same time next year.

Also, we were very taken back with how nice the Isle of Wight was, very laid back Island, like going back a generation. Some lovely walks too.

Hi Debs,Adgestone sounds like it would suit your familly.It has a good small heated pool,several play areas for kids of different ages,river & small lake if you like fishing and is in walking distance of sandown beach.There is also an excellent cycle track to either sandown or cowes.

Being a ccc site it is very well looked after.

We stayed in Whitecliff this year and were very pleased we did, but the walk down to the beach, although short, is v.v.v.v.steep so may not suit your mother-in-law. However, there are some lovely beaches in the area - Sandown is about a 5 minute drive away and is one of the best swimming beaches on the island. You can also swim at Bembridge by the lifeboat station at high tide and there is a lovely pub nearby that does amazing seafood platters. (about 20 mins walk along the beach, 30 mins by road).

I'm sure that wherever you go you'll enjoy it - we'd definitely go back.

 I can recommend Thorness Bay near Cowes ,but I have to admit the beach near Nodes Point was a lot nicer didnt stay on the site at Nodes Point though thinking about it for next year , and if you book with Park Resorts at certain times of year they may pay your ferry crossing making it even cheaper .Hope this helps and hasn't confused you even more.

Can't remember what campsite it is but if you visit the park resorts website they have a break for this october at a camp site in the I.O.W for £79. I think it's in one of those ready tents so you wouldn't have to bother taking your own stuff!

But they have parks and clubs for the kids.

Mind you, October will probably be freezing?!

You can save quite a bit of money by booking your ferry crossing either through one of the caravan clubs, or as I did, by collecting Tesco Clubcard vouchers (if you are a Tesco shopper).

I used £30 worth of Clubcard Vouchers to buy Wightlink Ferry deals tokens worth £120.  That paid for almost all the £140 car and caravan ferry fares.

Tesco Clubcard Deals also do 'Days out' vouchers which you can use at some of the attractions on I.O.W. such as Dinosaur Isle and Amazon Zoo World etc,.

We had a lovely fortnight on I.O.W. earlier this month.  We stayed at The Orchards, which is on the (quiet) Western side of the Isle and we also took a nosey around Adgestone whilst we were there.  Adgestone looked lovely, apart from rather narrow/winding approach!  We won't be going back though because we felt we had experienced just about all it had to offer in the fortnight we were there!
