Grouse Hill - Near Whitby
Quite possibly the worst campsite I have stayed at!
The reason they only show an aerial picture is so it doesn’t show you the great sloping banks on the ‘top’ field and the muddy, damp and shaded area at the bottom near the midge infested pine trees!
The toilet block was filthy, made of concrete and breeze block with not a tile in sight. Full of cobwebs with the sinks coming off the walls, every time you press the tap the torrent of water (sometimes brown) bounces out of the sink on to anyone standing nearby. Cubicles are made from cheap white MDF and the locks do not fit properly. Showers have nowhere dry to put your cloths and are ridiculously small – no wonder they are free! You only get one key per booking, so only one of your party can go to the loo at a time.
There seemed no end to the amount of people they were taking bookings from, as it was quite literally tent peg to tent peg (no marked pitches) I couldn’t find one happy camper this weekend – and it wasn’t the weather that dampened the spirits either!
We will definitely not be going back!
