We would like to make the most of any fine weekends before Autumn sets in fully.

Can anyone recommend sites within 2 hours drive of Stoke On Trent AND with a decent real ale pub within (easy) walking distance?

The camp site at Forest view on Ratty's list is adequate and the pub is LOVELY!  I have not been to the weatsheaf at Low Lorton Cumbria in years but as I lived in the village I can highly recommend the area - near to the quieter lakes and forestry commision walks in Whinlatter Pass.  A review for the weatsheaf would be nice as I was put off as they had statics!
