We stopped at Morn Hill CC site near Winchester this August BH as we popped over to see our son in France and sailed from Portsmouth, only a 1/2 hour drive away.
The site is usual CC standards and is in a nice area just set back from the A31.It is in a rural area but still near to Winchester and within a 5 minute drive to Tesco's and other out of town shopping areas. There is also a pub just outside the campsite serving food too although I cannot comment on the food as we didn't have any.
Actually, Southsea does have a site right up on the Eastney side at the sea front. It is the quieter side of the beach and is called something like Southsea leisure park or holiday park. It is listed on UKcampsite. Accepts tents and caravans.
I know Southsea has a site near Eastney - it's the one I was talking about - It' s busy and noisy especially at the weekends through summer. They let the locals into the club house. It also backs onto a council estate. Read what you will ito that but I can tell you it was pretty litter strewn around the edges.

I live in Portsmouth, and Southsea is a pretty nice place. So what if the campsite is near a sort of council estate, I'm sure there are quite a few members of this site that either live on or near a council estate. There are also some fancy houses just down the road and the sea front right on your doorstep. Yes it does have a pub/ clubhuse, but it is also at the quietest end of the beach away from all the amusements etc.

Any suggestions for a good site (no clubhouse, no entertainment, just clean and tidy!) near Portsmouth?
"Actually I was answering tartarugas question"
I too was answering tartaruga's question. Please note I did not pass adverse comment on the occupiers of said estate. I was answerring their question honestly.
