Hi we are thinking of caravanning over the winter and wondered what the weather in Derbyshire would be like . Would we be snowed in etc., Thought of going to Lickpenny caravan site.

hi erica, some friends of ours live in hathersage and i know the roads up there can get very bad in mid winter. it does tend to get very icy especially on the back roads. just watch the forcast and go steady! its lovely up there and well worth a visit.
We were in Castleton betweeen xmas and new year and it was like a picture postcard fantastic, everyones caravan water pipes were frozen for a couple of days but we all managed. Just make sure you take plenty of warm clothes.
Lickpenny is in my opinion a lovely site and there are several reviews of it on here. Access is via hills which ever way you come so care is needed in poor conditions. The views are outstanding though especially from the super pitches over frost covered fields and rolling countryside.

Lickpenny is easy enough to get too all the roads are main so its not like being really out in the sticks I doubt it would be much of a problem but like lunnie says you can always ring the site, they're lovely people at Lickpenny. We caravan all year and will be using Packhorse just up the road from Lickpenny (and Lickpenny-the garden centre does lovely brekky!) - right the way through winter.
