Best walk I did was a short 200 yard one , from the site to the pub!!!!

I can recommend the food at the Queens Head pub in Hawkshead (scrummy sunday lunch). There a great walk in nearby Sawrey called Claife Heights, park in the Sawrey Arms car park (they don't mind as long as you pop in for a beer!) and follow the footpath sign near the phone box - great views of windermere. Also try High Dam near stott park bobbin mill and the east side of windermere, not many folks know this walk and it's lovely.

Thanks for all the replies, sitting here in my office in Liverpool, 11.30am the suns just come out. Going home in 2 hours can't wait to get there.
