try gallanachmore in oban. Lovely views sea views, 2 miles to town centre , handy for tescos breakies if it lashing it down. Wild camping: none better than Calgary Bay in Mull irresistable!!. No showers but a toilet across from beach, showers available in tobermory in Mishnish Hotel. If have a tent, you MUST experience this l;ittle piece of heaven.
Also look up Gairloch Sands, again stunning
Ullapool also very nice
perthshire lovely also, look up Blair Castle Camp site larger site but immaculate
But remember dont leave without heading to Calgary Bay!!
experience and enjoy

You've got to go to Glen Nevis near Fort William , the site is fantastic , in an incredibly beautiful setting, great bar / restaurant 5 minute walk away.Fabulous walks in the glen , River Nevis runs through the glen. Ben Nevis accessable to walk up if you fancy !! or go up the gondola of Anoch Mor , another mountain next to Nevis where the skiing goes on during the winter.
This site won Best campsite in Scotland for 2006, can't say anymore than that !!
We went in September , we are so glad we did, it's the best site we've been to in 3 years of camping, and as you can see , we like to travel round a bit !!!

We went to 3 sites this summer: Morton Hall in Edinburgh, Glen Coe and Sandyhills near Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway. I would thoroughly recommend the first 2, and suggest you avoid Sandyhills.
Morton Hall was great for easy access to Edinburgh centre - 20 mins on he bus from right outside the park. It was well run, clean, good facilities and a good bar. Great for the Edinburgh Festival, which runs during most of August, and which we and our boys aged 12 and 8 thoroughly enjoyed.
Glen Coe is another great park in a stunning location overlooking the Loch Leven, with spotless facilities and very helpful friendly staff. Great for walking and getting away from it all.
Despite their glossy brochure, Sandyhills was a big disappointment. I wrote a long critical review for the website, but it hasn't appeared yet, which makes me suspicious about the independence of UKcampsites. Briefly, although we had booked, and told them that we had a trailer tent, when we arived they told us that they didn't take trailer tents. They also told us that we couldn't put up our gazebo, which we use as a cooking area, and which we also told them about when we booked. The site managers were by turns rude and overfamiliar, and then started trying to blame their central booking office (there are 3 or 4 sites in the group). There were too many petty rules (e.g. no unaccompanied children in the toilet block - however old or mature), and the beach isn't as sandy as it looks on the pictures. Quite mudy in places and not suitable for swimming off. Hope you find this helpful.
