I had a look at Trevornicks tariff for 2006 and was trying to work out roughly what the costs would have been for us to camp there in 2006. I had great difficulty understanding how they got to their example price of £160ish for 2 weeks in june even taking into account the second week half price. Can someone explain how their pricing policy works. I assume you pay a daily rate per adult and per child plus a daily rate for EHU plus an additional daily rate if you have a premium, super or jumbo pitch. Working on these principles I calculated that my one week in August for 5 of us would have cost about £470. What am I doing wrong??

thanks

Nigel

The example they give is not including EHU, just 2 adults + 2 kids + car x 7.  Then the second week half price.  £161.17.

What figures are you using?   I think the example is a little misleading (although correct) , as high season works out a lot more!

I work it out at about £381 but only a rough guess!

Are you doing 5 adults X the prem pitch pitch?  it only needs the number of nights X prem pitch price.

I 'think' it should be somthing like this for Aug...

7 nights X 5 adults X £8.40 daily rate = £294

7 nights X £8.25 prem pitch rate = £57.75

7 nightsx 4.25 Hookup rate = £29.75

Just drop them an email they are pretty quick doing quotes.

PS. Must admit I thought there pricing to be pretty confusing, especially as the prem pitches included hookup but think you still have to pay the extra premium .

Don’t forget to budget 20p for the shower each day!

Thanks for the replies folks - yes I was doing it wrong. BUT after emailing Trevornick they confirmed that they could hold their 2006 price if I booked now and paid by 1st Jan 07. They quoted an EHU pitch for 5 adults in the last week of July would cost me £362.  I dont think so.

While I know many people on this site agree that Trevornick is a marvellous site with lots of facilities, I dont think thats justification for such high prices.

I also had probs when pricing it up earlier this year and rang them for a price.  It was nowhere near what I had calculated.  As it happens, we didn't go, but will one day.

Hi Nigel16, we have just worked it out at the begining of June no school hols price for us would be £28 per night a single couple. We are looking for a couple of weeks down in Cornwall next June but not at these prices. Way to expensive puts two weeks at nearly £400 without fuel etc.

Theres no way I would pay those sort of prices for a caravan holiday.........especially when there is lots of other sites to choose from in cornwall with more reasonable prices.

Here we go...........

The annual lets all knock the prices at Trevornick get to gether.  Yes it's slightly expensive compared to others, but the place has

  • it's own theme park.
  • it's own golf course.
  • direct access to one of the best beaches in Cornwall.
  • It's own on site fishing.
  • Large kids play area.
  • choice of 3 bars for the evening

I could go on, but do your selves a favour.  Book the cheaper sites in Conrwall but promise yourself to take a look into Trevornick and see what the extra money gets you.

Hi Scarletsfan,

I totally agree and was in no way having a knock at Trevornick, as I stated there are lots of facilities on site that anyone would expect to have to pay for. We are however 5 adults that will not use the theme park, golf course or fishing facilities and was only looking for a site near to the beach. In that respect the quoted prices do not offer value for money for us.

Are the theme park, golf course and fishing all included in the price?

If so, and you would not use them, then obviously this is not the place to go.  If not then I would say it is very expensive in high season.  But quite reasonable in June.
