I love Anglesey and have been camping there on and off for years but I always tend to go to the same area, in and around Rhosneigr. I have driven past sites on the north coast, Red Wharf bay and Cameas bay but have never been convinced to pitch there. Can anyone recomend a site or two on Anglesey, thanks

Hi Rowlands,
there is a site at Llanelian near Amlwch which has good reviews. I think I may have stayed there when I was 8, dare say it has changed a bit! There used to be a man in a van who sold "pice".
Park Lodge camp site at Cameas is one of the most spectacular sites for views of the coast, and a 15min walk down into the lovely town for pubs/shops and pretty harbour, for boat trips, just so peacefull out of the high season. Reccomended. kiev

I live in Holyhead and there is a campsite near us called valley of the rocks, very near to porth dafarch beach, dont know what the site is like as I have obviously never stayed there, but it looks pretty good, and this side of Anglesey is always busy in summer, and plenty of other beaches to choose from too

See my reply above. Sorry, wrong one but I have said before that we liked this site.
i am also from holyhead (although originally rhyd wyn) and we pitch our tent at ty rhos campsite in treaddur bay. it is very basic but has a lot of room and takes large tents (although no pre booking) i'm ok because i have family and friends in the area and can go to them if i get fed up, it has a toilet/shower block, shop, laundrette and a bar (very smoky and working men styley) we've pitched there for last 10 years but only for weekends, i think silver bay in rhoscolin may be nice, it has it's own private beach, one of the nicest on the island (haven't stayed there but my friends own the land next to it so i have access to the beach and it is fantastic!!) also excellent pub called the white eagle who's food is to die for, kids aren't allowed after 9 pm and it gets packed so get there as early as you can!! but it's one to go to!!!!
(i now live in cumbria by the way, i don't camp on my own doorstep!!)

Hi Rowlands
did you ever use Bodfan farm in Rhosneigr ? we often use that site and the owners have been family friends for around 25 years.
No, is that the one up Sandy Lane? we've always gone to Shoreside campsite but I've decided to have a change, it got a little noisy at weekends despite there being lots of young families there, some people are so ignorant
