Has anyone been to this event? If so how mad do people go with lights and are they only on Saturday or do people switch them on Friday too?

Val

They have a 'bonfire and firework rally' and 'fairylights and firework rally'.

I have been to the bonfire one a few times and its a great weekend, huge bonfire and the fireworks are great.  Friends have been to the latter and I would imagine people put their lights up on the Saturday morning, thats what happens on any other 'lights-on' rally we have been to.

Thanks Rizzo,

OH like lights and fireworks, but I don't want him to go OTO.  He has missed out at home the last year and again this year as we are away for Christmas so no point in spending ages putting up too many lights in the garden. Not that I would ever encourage him.

We are going over the same weekend as you, it will be our first time there too.  Our friends could not come this year but they say everyone puts there lights on as soon as they get there after setup, we will get there Friday late afternoon and make a start.  Soon as Mick puts them up we will switch on, i will be doing other essential things like pouring the wine

Hi Tina and Mick

Perhaps we could get together for a glass or two of wine?  If you are interested let me know and I will let you have our pitch number?  It would be nice to meet up with another UKCS member. We are looking forward to it.

Hi Valerie, in answer to "how mad do people go with their lights?" the answer is VERY.  Have been for the last three years and it is brilliant.  Hope you and Tina enjoy it and of course OH's when they finish putting up the lights.  See you there

Karen

Val,

We popped round twice on Saturday afternoon and no car so we figured you guys were exploring the area  anyways, we loved your lights and father xmas, we should have left a note.....doh! thinking about it not sure if thats a safe thing to do!

OH asked how you got your lights to stay on your whippy aerial thingy? tape? zip ties?

We are booking up for next years Bonfire & Lights as soon as Bashley publish there 2007 price list so lets try again

The two caravans next to us were quite loud, Sunday morning 1:30am we were woken by the man in his 50's i would say running around with no cloths on making rather rude suggestions with his wife and their friends caravan door! Oh my i thought must carry on looking

Hi Mick and Tina

Sorry we missed you. We were out in the Forest looking at red deer. Managed to catch up with the stags we saw in October. Got some great pictures.

What a fabulous weekend.  We just loved seeing the happy faces of the kids and their reactions to the lights.  The place had a wonderful atmosphere.

Cable ties were what my OH used to keep most of the lights up plus some sucker things on the van.  Duct tape works too.

No problems with our neighbours and no noise at all. We booked on Sunday for next year.  I think it had gone up by a massive one pound. We got the last full service pitch.

They are running two bonfire and fairy light weekends, one will be 2 and 3 departure 4, basically adding the lights on to the normal bonfire night.

We booked for 9 and 10 departing 11th.

We also booked valentine weekend Feb 9 and 10.
