which castlegigg?- there are two accross the road from each other- about 20mins to keswick town- the hill is quite steep on the way back though!!!

We stayed at the Farm site and it is indeed quiet with nice showers and facilities- 20p for showers though, but i think they last longer than advertised if you know what i mean!

Should note very few hard standings and they are right by reception. Mainly tenters when we were there....

Without a doubt... one of my fav sites is : Castlerigg Hall at Keswick.

Its a nice walk down to town (about 20 minutes down a track - slightly rough). Bus back up is the 555.

Lovely toilets and showers, campers kitchen, fab breakfast cafe for when you can't be bothered to cook. People are really nice too.

Nice quiet site.

Parkcliffe,up the hill on the eastern side of Lake Windermere is a fab site. We've been there 4 times this year, one stay was for 8 nights. The site is spotless and beautifully kept. It is surrounded by the hills and trees with a river running through the site. The site is well set out for caravans, motorhomes and tents with EHU. For tents without EHU the pitches are on a hillside and quite sloping. The facilities are first rate with plenty of showers, loos, laundry, playroom and a really nice bar. The food here is of restaurant standard and not too pricey. The staff are welcoming and helpful.

The park is situated so that you can get, easily, to the busier areas of the Lakes or the quieter less touristy parts, with hill walks setting off from the park itself.

Can't recommend it enough and can't wait to get back there when it opens in the spring.

Wendle.  Take a look at Croft holiday park at Hawkshead, nice site and only about 200 mtrs from the village, were you will find 4 pubs and all the shops you need in a real nice part of the lakes.
