hi sue

fantastic site. handy for edinburgh, just jump on the park and ride. edinburgh is a beautiful place.

from the site you walk across one field (carpark) and you are in the sand dunes that lead to the beach. there are miles and miles of clean, empty beautiful beach. three islands one of them is bass island. scenery is fantastic.

north berwick is about 2 to 3 miles up the beach, but you will not notice the walk there is that much to see and explore. north berwick is luvverly little town.

i don't play golf, but i can see why golfers like this area. there is a course every mile and they are real courses not the pitch and puts they have round our end.

the only problem we had was we only went for a week. it's not long enough. one day travelling to the site and one day back only leaves 5 days. its a long way to go for 5 days.

next time we go it will be for longer.

enjoy

corni

Hi Sue,

I agree with everything that corni says.  The only drawback is that its closeness to Edinburgh means that its very popular with the city folk as a weekend retreat, so book early!  Despite the fact that it is a very busy site in the summer, it never feels overcrowded because of the site layout, and the superb toilet and service facilities are more than adequate for the numbers even at peak times.  This is one of my personal  'top five' sites, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it there.  The beach is brilliant, and very dog-friendly too, with a specially designated dog walk over the dunes to the beach and even a machine dispensing free poop-scoops in the council-run parking field that lies between the site and the beach.

We were there this summer. I agree with how good it was. Even with the flash flooding and storms that we had

The only thing i wouldn't do again is park quite so close to the site playpark as it has a wooden 'bridge' that makes the most awful racket when the kids run back and forward over it!! [even my own ones!]

It is certainly a site we will return to.

My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.

When we were last at North Berwick we parked at the railway station and got the train into Edinburgh as Waverly station is right in the centre

small world isn't it , we are in kiddy.  we will be stopping at moffat on our way up then on to mallaricky bay(luss) to see relatives in glasgow, then onto yellowcraig towards the end of june, then might go back to moffat or try somewhere else new or even go to melrose , another nice site.  that is the joy of caravanning , going where and when you want to, as long as you let those sites you have booked that you will be staying on where you are, or going another route home, they really don't mind, but if as in june /july you have paid a deposit, then you lose that.will be keeping our eyes open for you, and if we miss you do have a great time in what we think is the greatest place on earth.[:D]

We will be heading up the M6 to J13 then cutting across to the Edinburgh by-pass then on to North Berwick for a week or so. We will then be heading back across to the Mull of Kintyre to a site at Muasdale, which looks basic, but right on the beach. we will probably stop at a Cl around Penrith area on the way back for a night or two just to give me a break before coming on home. Last Year we went to Invernahavon, just South of Newtonmore, cracking scenery. The year before we went further North to Brora at Dalchalm, lovely site by the beach. We have just come back this afternoon from a week-end in Hull seeing the Granddaughter. Nice CL but a bit pricey at £12 per night to park on what was effectively a driveway, but it served its purpose I suppose. We store our van up at Hartlebury. We have been looking for a week-end "bolthole" up around Bridgenorth area or Wenlock, just somewhere where we can escape to on a Friday evening for the week-end. Best Wishes

hi Jerry and Tina, Have you been to presthope caravan club site,£6 a night last year, might be £7 now. just outside much wenlock and an easy drive into bridgnorth for the market ect. you can walk from the site into much wenlock village, lovely little place use to be the station, you can pitch on what is left of the platforms. no showers or such here, but electric hook-ups and water. lovely dog walk too. woods across the road for further walking up on to the ridge where you can see for miles around, and you can also walk along the old railway from the site and down a small lane just to the left of the site entrance. there are maps in the little office . it's a very popular place so you have to book, more so around bank holiday's ect.i have stayed there for a week with my sister and her youngsters and it was bliss, so quiet, going into shrewsbury to swim and a walk inthe park, and into much wenlock for a curry, can't be beat!!![:o)]
