Hi and welcome.

Not sure if it is to close to home but we stayed at Royal Umpire a few years ago and were very impressed. Royal Umpire Touring Park , Preston Campsite

If you go to Campsite search at top of page, go to advanced search click on area you want (ie North West then Lancashire) click on open all year and a list of all sites in that area that will be open at xmas will appear.

We are also new to caravaning and goin away for Xmas for the first time if we can find a suitable site, so will be watching for tips.

Good luck.

As Bill suggests, check out the campsite search facility. If you want hookup etc it's probably best to book sooner rather than later. During the holiday season sites get booked up quickly.

I'm afraid that my 'tip' for Christmas/New Year caravanning is to book by the preceding March at the latest!

We usually book a Caravan Club site for this period and experience has taught me that only the 'early birds' get in to the most popular sites.

We're staying at Moreton-in-Marsh Caravan Club Site this year - having booked it last January.   I believe it was fully booked not long after I made my reservation.

I think you might be surprised just how popular Christmas/New Year caravanning is.

- I'm really looking forward to our New Year outing.  We've even bought a snazzy outdoor decoration to put on the pitch!  It will be tinged with sadness though because it will be our last trip in the current van before it gets handed over as a part-ex on the new one.

Think the only place you will get over xmas is a CL if you are a member of the caravan club, the only other places that might have vacancies is just over the border in Scotland (Gretna ect) Xmas is not such a big deal there. We are going to the one in the link below for Xmas, come up if you dare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi I have been looking for sites for over christmas and new year.  I have found one open called Wild Rose Caravan site in cumbria it looks like a good site so try them.  There is also one in Gretna called The Braids Caravan Park try them too.

Suggestions on winter caravanning if you don't have a onboard water tank make sure you cover the aquaroll with some kind of insulation cover. Keep the blown air heating on at all times even at night on a low temp.  Also keep a gallon bottle of water in caravan in case pipes freeze up.

We went away to Holgates in Silverdale last year it was i bit cold but we wrapped up well and had a fantastic time.

Good luck with your search.

Cheers Kathy

I think Plassey Park Wrexham is open but not sure if they have availability.  Give them a call.

We went to Wyreside Lakes Fishery, I has a great bar on site and the staf are really friendly and they have entertainment on.

Fantastic walks around the site and around the area.

Good luck.
