Just a note to let any interested parties now that Southview Leisure park at Skegness is not allowing any type of awning over the christmas / new year period, we had booked this site for the coming holidays back in august bank holiday and have just found out, not through the management of  Southview Leisure but by word of mouth. i hasten to add what a nice feeling it would have been to turn up on the 22nd of December in high spirits ready for the festivities to begin to be told that awnings are not allowed, try explaining to the children where the christmas tree goes and all the presents as i would'nt have liked to have left them outside. Armed with this very useful information i spoke to the reception immediatly to check out their response and was told that we would have been informed on arrival, WHY, surely this information should have been given to us on booking.

I would say they certainly should tell you on booking...apart from anything else, who wants to have to carry the extra weight and end up with an awning stuck in the caravan if it can't be erected?

I can only think of one reason for that, and that is to cram as many units into as small a space as possible. Assuming the usual pitch price includes an awning I would ask for a rebate!!

Thanks for that shenmarlin, we had also enquired about staying at this site. We have been in constant touch over the last couple of weeks and there has been no mention of awnings not being allowed. We have not confirmed our booking and now with this info we will staying home as i could not spend a week at this time of year without putting up the awning. I think it is disgreaceful that they were leaving it until arrival to give you this info.

Are you still going? If so would you let us know how you went on and what entertainment was available as trying to get the info from the site is like getting blood from a stone. The website has been under construction for most of the year and that does not help.

Hope you enjoy it if you do go

If customer service is bad when you are enquiring to book, it's certain to be lousy if you get a problem on site, after you've paid up!!!

Bertie.
