We are completey new at this camping lark. My husband and I have both camped as kids but its been a while. We now have three small boys (5, 3 and 1.). We have bought a tent sunncamp haven 8. Now we need some places to go and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I'd hate to make the wrong choice a ruin what could be the beginnig of something lovely. We are in southend, essex area, dont mind a bit of a drive (couple hours). need stuff for kids mainly. Advice, tips and recommendations all welcome.

Don't just think big holiday parks with swimming pools, entertainment etc for kids, mine are just as happy with a stream, pond fishing net, bike etc on a nice small site.

you could always book on a meet, especially if you want one close, plenty of friendly people and kids who look out for each other.  IF you find thats not for you, then you can make your own arrangements in future. for us, UKCS is brilliant and kids have a great time.

Norwood Farm campsite in Newchurch, New Romney is lovely. Lots of things in surrounding area for kids to do. It is not far from Dymchurch, Hythe, Rye, Hastings. Close to the tenterden mini railway and Port Lympe Zoo. A little further on towards Eastbourne you have Drusillas Zoo, Alfriston, Lewes, Seven Sisters, Beachy Head. You could also visit Ashford Designer Outlet or have a trip to France and visit Dover and Deal castes. Norwood Farm is a small, quiet site surrounded by a sheep farm. Lovely facilities. There are plenty of other camp sites in area as well.
If you want something a bit busier try Woodlands at Totnes, Devon. We haven't been there yet but are hoping to go there this summer.
