Hi All

It's Grant's Missus.

We've read the reviews for Carradale Bay Caravan Park and it sounds really fab.  Has anywone been there recently or near the end of last year's season? Was it as good as it looks on their web site? Did anyone take their dog there?

We really fancy going, but it's a long way to go (we're in the Scottish Borders) to find out it's all really smoke and mirrors.

Please let me know what you thought of the place and surroundings.

Thanks.

LL

Scenic, fairly remote, long drive.  Not been to the site but have heard it is good.  Easy boat launching.

Went last August.  A long winding road from Campbeltown and then down an unmade track, but worth it.  The site has excellent facilities and is right by the pebbly beach.  You can walk along the beach to the local shops and pub but will need to get your feet wet when crossing the stream.  Campbeltown was disappointing but there is a boat trip you can go on and a lovely garden dedicated to Linda McCartney.  Very scenic area on the way from Obad to Campbeltown and then to Carradale Bay.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

Muasdale is lovely right on the edge of the beach, the owners are lovely.  It isn't a massive site but the views are so good and just watching the sea is relaxing.  There is a family of seals that seem to appear every evening and often some swans swim along too.  As it is on West coast you can watch the sun set.

There are otters but we haven't been fortunate enough to see them.

The ferry trip to Gigha is worth it and some lovely gardens to explore.

We also enjoyed the Owl Centre in Campbelltown.

Muasdale's little shop is lovely with lots of variations of local and not so local beers.

Thanks for the information Jana, peace and quiet with nice long walks along the beach sounds idyllic. Just hope the dog doesnt take a fancy to a seal but knowing her she will be afraid of them!

I thought I recognised the name

Havn't stayed there, but a couple of years ago we spent a great week in the area, stayed at a quiet site on the road there, near Tayinloan.

The area felt very remote and strangely calming for it, one regret is that we never took the ferry to Gigha.

Ps stunning beach near Machrihannish
