Hi,

I have looked through the listings here and elsewhere and I am unable to identify a site that a map has shown me exists.

Looking at a map provided by one site I noticed a camp site marker which I cannot identify. The site would be just to the North of Filey. Looking at the map just North of Filey is a (presumably) rocky projection - between the town of Filey and this projection is a camp site. Anyone know its name - web address - whatever?

To the best of my knowledge there is a council run site on the cliffs just to the north of Filey. Sorry I can't be a bit more specific but some one else may have some more details.

It might be Filey Country Park if that's the one your thinking of.

Hi,

I don't know if this helps but here goes!

I don't know how well you know the East Yorkshire Coast so apologies if I am telling you something you already know!

At the northern end of Filey there is a rocky projection call Filey Brigg,it is at the end of the beach and it gets covered over at high tide, but a pleasant walk at low tide.

If you look on the campsite search there is a site called Filey Brigg Caravan Park, could this be it?

North of that towards Scarborough you find a  projection of cliffs at Cayton followed by Cayton Bay,there are campsites in abundance around this area as it is very popular.

I think by the way you explain it Cayton is too far North of Filey for your mystery campsite.

Hope this helps a little,if not it might spark someone elses memory banks into action!

Val

Looks like filey brigg - many thanks - & my only knowledge of Yorkshire coastline is that it was to the east of Catterick Camp - hell on earth surrounded by double hell on earth - but I understant non military people think it is a nice area!! They actually enjoy walking on the moors?????????

Above is humour peeps from Yorkshire lest it be mis understood.

One other thought - A Yorkshire man is just an Aberdonian without the charity gene:-)

Glad you have solved the mystery of thr camp site.

We are only an hour and a half from Filey at a leisurely pace, fancied trying it out ourselves,it looks handy for the beach and it is not far from the town(the town in Filey is up a hill from the beach but nothing that will cause cardiac problems!).

If you are looking at other places to visit in the area look at Whitby,Robin Hoods Bay and Flamborough they are all quite "charming" places to visit.

One word of warning,as a Yorkshire woman I must warn you to be aware of the "Yorkshire Bite",nothing to do with teeth - its more a case of short arms, deep pockets if you get my drift!!

Hope you enjoy Filey.
