Seaview International in Cornwall has been voted "Best Campsite in Britain" 3 times (don't know who by!) and has also been award "Best European Campsite" too.  Haven't been there yet - but booked for Whitsun.

Probably a bit more than 5 hours from Lancashire tho............!

We LOVE Freshwater Beach holiday park nr Bridport, Dorset.

We are further north than you and it would take us 6ish hours with a caravan if we travelled in the night - but well worth the long run - great family site - entertainment is fun, not crude or tacky and efeinitley not money grabbng. Any funds they raise got to providing a holiday for kids with Special needs so it makes you actually want to give.

Our kids - 13 nad 11 love it and enjoyed it when they were infants and later as juniors.

Site is on its own ( pebbly) beach and has small but nice outdoor pools....I should work for their marketting dept shouldn't I?
