I love Roundhill, no hookups, but loos and washing faclilties, lots of bike tracks, ponies, donkeys, fishing on site. Not sure about price though, now C&CC have taken over.
Ashurst, your free to pitch were you want. No playpark or lecy, but clean hot showers and plenty of loos. Lyndhurst 5 mins by car for supermarkets and pubs, ashurst 5 mins on foot for take aways and cash point. Quite cheep about £12 a night August.

Try Sandy Balls in Fordingbridge, it's right on the edge of the new forest, with spacious pitches, has nice indoor and outdoor pool, bikehire and horse riding thouroughly reccomend.

Problem is that SB is VERY popular and you may have a job getting booked for the time you want to go.
I know it sounds daft but many, many families book from year to year here just to ensure they get on during the peak periods.
Sandy Balls has an excellent website that gives you the current pitch availability - give it a spin see what happens........I'd be delighted to be wrong.
The forest holiday sites - look on their website - if you are after staying in the New Forest then why would you go anywhere else - you get the ponies coming through -it's lovely - we went to Aldridge Hill and Ashurst last year. Superb.
