Hi Guys

I am planning on  going to the lakes in July with my wife. It is my first time camping up there as we can usually be seen hanging around the cornish/devon coast for our hols but thought we'd go somewhere different.

I have had a look through the campsites search and to be honest getting a bit bogged down by choice. We're not mad hikers, no Scafell Pike for us but we do like to go out walking, we like to be within walking distance of an eatery/pub and we would lika a flat pitch with the normal facilities on site, ie showers, wash up sinks etc.

So what has been your favourite site in the lakes that you could reccomend for a weeks holiday in June??

Silecroft has a lovely site with nice facillities,  quite a few statics but a nice camping field, very close beach.  PamJ

Have a look at Park Coppice near Coniston (a 15/20min walk to the village but pub nearby). Not stayed there myself (stayed in the nearby area) but it has good reviews.

Plenty of low level (and high level) walks around the area and it's right next to the Lake. Coniston Village is a good little place with plenty of eating/drinking places for such a small village (some good little shops too)

Mifty,    Take a look at Croft Holiday Park at Hawkshead, smashing site, and just about 200 mtrs ( if that ) from the village were you will find 3 or 4 pubs and also a mini-market that stocks everything you will need, Nice site in a great part of the lakes.

I must admit castlerigg had been on my short list, the only thing that's putting me off at the moment is that they don't take bookings for tents.
