Apologies, but I posted this in the overseas forum which was a bit of a silly mistake.
Anyway, there is a serious issue here. My lady wife and I have enjoyed many happy caravanning in the Lakes. It's such a beautiful area, and there's also the challenge of negotiating steep passes and narrow twisty roads. It is a caravanner's paradise.
As we move into spring, and are thinking getting back on the road, should we still keep the Lakes in mind? Will our caravans be safe, and can we be assured of our personal safety?

I live in Kendal and, after livinbg in several northern areas, can tell you that you can't find much safer...I often foregt to lock my car at night and I don't panic. Yes one day i will get caught out, we all will. I am not niave, just lucky enough to live in one of the safest areas in the country.
Think about it, if this is all the local paper has to lead on - no muggings, no rapes, no murders ( and it still has space for spot the dog) please don't worry and put it into context.
I do hope you will come to the Lakes and enjoy the natural beauty - and have a safe and relaxing time.
Where is 100% safe? Many years ago i was caravanning in the Forest of Dean on one of the Forestry Sites, myself, husband & daughter in the Caravan, and my 8 yr old son, his friend & our Dog in a small tent outside the caravan. Someone very kindly removed our steps from outside the caravan during the night, you can imagine my surprise in the morning when i was bringing the morning tea out to the lads! I have never before or since had anything stolen on a caravan/camping park but theres always going to be the odd case. So go to the Lakes its a fantastic area and enjoy it!
The Lakes is a great area, and because of its nature does not attract the same level of crime as many other places.
Of course these days nowehere is 100% crime/vandalism free but as there is less man made entertainment of the type the mindless ******** who perpetrate this type of vandalism enjoy it is less likely to occur.
Have a great time there as you always do

When we went to Parkfoot, Pooley Bridge last year the receptionist was handing out leaflets warning about thefts from caravans / tents in the area..however I think you can't escape thieving gits who think they have more right to your possesions than yourself.
