Ello,

First post on this site and I'm hoping someone can help me.

My boyfriend and I are keen campers (We normally spend a week up to our necks in mud at Glasto) but because it wasn't on last year we did allot more camping.

Anyway, I'm twittering on!! Glasto is back on this year and (fingers crossed) we're going. Along side this we hope to do allot more camping as well.

We visited Wales for the first time last year and we loved it, we had a crack at climbing Snowdon but had to come back down again due to bad weather (life story or what).

We desperately want to go back this year, but we want to stay in a camp site that is close to Snowdon ranger path or any of the other paths.

If anyone could recommend a good campsite, that would be great.

Cheers,
r00

Hello and welcome to the site, we live in North Wale sand there are plenty of sites for tents right where you need to be. However I cannot recomend one for tents as we do not tent.

Perhaps Brian can help!

Hi

We camped in a tent a couple of years ago at a place called Snowdon View caravan park, Llanberis, it was really nice! toilets and showers were in a big mobile but they were brand new and spotlessly clean! You have a nice view of the mountain and I think there is a pool and that on the site, we were too knackered to look tho, lol. It was a great weekend, we were lucky the weather was red hot. We had walk, then beer and BBQ - Brill.

We walked up Snowdon but up the Pigg Track, have a feeling the rangers path maybe other way?

Anyway hope this helps

I have always driven to Snowdon, but have stayed at Cae du, beddgelert, a great site  which is close to the Watkin path.  The forestry site at Beddgelert is handy for the snowdon ranger and the rhyd du path.  There are plenty of campsites I am sure, but we now use a caravan.  I am sorry I can't be of more help.

There is a useful bus service around the mountain - the snowdon sherpa.

http://www.visitcaernarfon.com/sherpa/index.html

If you use this you can go up one path and descend another.  The best paths run from Pen y Pass at 1100ft.  The last time I used the car park there it cost around £4 and may have gone up since.  I am sure you will find a nice site.

Better luck with the weather.

Brian

Hi r00,

We have climbed Snowdon 3 years running and have stayed at Cae Du Beddgelert http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5252. The Watkin path is close by but we usually take the car up to the bottom of Llanberis Pass and walked up to Pen y pass then take the Miners track going up and the Pyg track coming down. Last year though we parked at Llanberis and walked up from there but my daughter had only just turned 5 and my wife had to turn back with her half way up. Myself and my 11 year old son continued up Snowdon and my wife took the car back to the campsite. When we reached the summit we came down the Miners track in a thunder storm  to Pen y pass and caught a sherpa bus back to the entrance of our campsite. A word of warning though, this year there wont be a building on top of Snowdon as it has been demolished and a new one will be finished next year, that means no toilets either the only ones are at Clogwyn(Llanberis Path) which is also as far as the train will take people this year. You can still walk to the summit but be prepared with enough refreshments and clothing.

There is a basic site, which only takes tents, between the village of Rhyd Ddu and the Snowdon Ranger Path.

Look in campsite reviews for "Snowdon Valley" [I think thats what it is called] or look for Cwellyn Arms Rhyd Ddu.The site is owned by the landlord of the pub but is a good 15 mins walk away.

Hope this helps
