Hi

Has anyone been to this site recently ? is it as bad as the reviews, or is it that only people who have had bad experiences have posted? I am asking because on the last leg of our summer hols we will be leaving Dartmouth heading for the North East and a few days around that part of the country would make the final part of the journey home shorter, also I have relatives who live in various villages around Banbury so we could visit them.If Billing is so bad has anyone any other suggestions, does'nt have to that area but on route home, cheers

I can highly recommend Bo-Peep Farm, just south of Banbury. It`s on the campsite search,

Agree with Sue, if you want to be near Banbury Bo-Peep is an excellent campsite.Mind you it will be very quiet compared to Billing.

Try Barnstones just outside of Banbury at Gt Bourghton 1st class site a bit of background noise from the M40 but nothing a couple beers won't cure...

I think there is a site near Warmington, a lovely village in Warwickshire which is only a few miles from Banbury (near the A41). Sites at Stratford upon Avon if you can get on them which is well worth visting if you have not been there and can be combined with Banbury.

Thanks for the advice ppl, I'll look into the one's recommended, OH is still keen to go to Weymouth which wiil make the overall journey a long one i.e. Hartlepool-Birmingham-Brean Sands-Newquay- Dartmouth- Weymouth- Hartlepool..in 2 weeks, he says don't worry as he'll be driving, but I think to head towards home from Dartmouth is more sensible..even though I love Weymouth and Dorset.

Billing used to be a well run family site, but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole these days. The reviews pretty much sum it up.

There are plenty of sites to choose from around the Banbury area, I'm sure you'd be much happier in that neck of the woods.

You might like to rough it. If you've got wellies, plenty of cash, an appetite for chips with everything, earplugs and prepared to be kept awake, then why not go for it. You never know, you might like it and we've got it all wrong.

We.ve stayed at Somer's Wood near Meriden and think it's one of the best we have stayed at in the Midlands in a very long time. Not too far off your route either. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1691
