I am looking to visit Cornwall for the first time this summer 2007. I am unsure how busy it will be and wonder do I need to pre book a site or can you generally just turn up and stay ad hoc.
I do not want to book a site for 10 nights only to find out we do not like it.
Any advice will be gratefully received.

I dont know Cornwall to well, but I presume especially with a caravan you would need to book in advance, wouldnt be so difficult with a tent I suppose.  I would be worth looking on the campsite search get the details of one that looks good for you, give them a ring and ask.  Explain that you would like to book for 4 nights (example) but would it be a problem if you extended your stay, ie: how busy are you at that time of the year.

We travel quite regularily to Cornwall as we have relatives there. I would always suggest that you should book in advance, and even in June you will find the area to be very popular.

Depends whereabouts in cornwall you are thinking of going.  It is busy but not too bad, i always go to polmanter in st ives in june, i do book so i can choose my pitch, but there's usually no need to pre book on there, not sure about other sites tho, so long as you arent going in the half term week.

I would bet that since the school holidays don't start until July22nd and the holidays in June finish by the 4th, you wouldn't need to book in advance.

May I suggest you put some requirements together and see if anyone can give you advice on area and site?

Cornwall is always busy, even in April/may.

Definitely book in advance.

chelsea girl - Everywhere is busy in parts of April and May due to Bank Holidays. Easter falls in April this year.  Any other time shoudl be OK, the site owners will look on their arrival at any other time as a bonus. 

i want to go to cornwall in june.. not too far from st columb major.

so far i have seen three sites i fancied.

the first was C&Cc members only.

the second was naturist

the third was gay and lesbian heaven.

i have nothing against any of the above but i was hoping for something a little less specialist

is there something wrong with my search criteria

I am going 2nd june to 9th, but then ex-hubby is there from 9th til 16th, so you will pass each other lol, oh , and my mum has a seasonal on there so she will be there til 30th anyway i think !

i want to stay there even more now i have read the reviews.!!  And you can even hire a tipi.
