Hi all. Me and my friends are looking to camp in a woodland area away from everything, a proper back-to-nature trip. we aren't sure whether to use tents yet or make a shelter using tarpaulin/branches. I would prefer to make a shelter (it's good fun!) but i'm not sure if it is allowed in most places. we would also like to build a fire. We are based in the midlands, but will travel anywhere to get a great site. For the past 5 years we have been camping in priory mill farm, brecon, which is great for a chill-out but we want to be a bit more out of the way this time.

Welcome to ukcs bigeasy. If you put wild camping in the search facility, the one at the top of the page between Log Off and  New Posts  you`ll be able to read some earlier threads on the subject, I`m sure you`ll get more replies later,

Im watching your replies as i would be interested also. If you go into the advanced seartch option you can search for sites that allow fires. Although short of asking a farmer to build a bivawack ( excuse spelling ) on his land or approaching a scout site i dont know , good luck

Burnbake in Dorset allow you to make fires.  As does a site in Dolgellau but I can't recall the name.
