If you fancy going to Scotland then Forest-Holidays have some fantastic lakeside sites, Cashel on the shores of Loch Lomond and Ardgartan at Loch Long, they should be in the campsite search, I`ll go and have a look,
Sue
Yes they are, the midges could be a problem though depending on the time of year.
Waterside house Campsite,nr Pooley Bridge Penrith.Right on the banks of Ullswater in my humble opinion the most striking of the Lakes.Have not camped there yet but walked through it when camping at Park Foot about 1/4 ml away.Nice site with some water sports.
Lakeside Beilby near york..have been about 4/5 times now one of the times we were about 12ft away form the edge of the lake, they have a website that shows arial view of the site so you can take a look,( it is ADULTS ONLY site)!

Waterside House at Ullswater is absolutely fab although there is no EHU, but it is worth it.................... they have a few watersports i.e. canoes etc, there is a shop and the showers and toilets are excellent. It is about a 10-15 minute stroll into Pooley Bridge where there are 3 pubs and a fish & chip shop etc, you walk along the lake shore which is gorgeous at night.
Also Loch Ken in Dumfries & Galloway this is great right on the Loch, small shop and facilities no pub though but they do have EHU!!
