has anyone stayed on the manor farm site with a tent there are mixed reviews in the camp site part, thinking of staying on the marl pit field the mixed caravans and tents but no dogs, any advice greatly received or any other recommendations near this site would be great,

I like this site but have only stayed in the dog field. From there, there are great views out to sea. I don't use EHU and have only been out of school hols so it was very quiet. Without EHU we could pitch where we liked. The loo/shower blocks were clean.

We used Manor Farm about three years ago. At the time we had a dog and used a field on the far part of the site. This was why my partner was unhappy, having to walk to get to facilities (early season, the nearest loos weren't open). However, the site was clean and we had a sea view from out pitch. If you do camp at the back of the site, there is a track you can walk into Cromer and straight to a supermarket (Aldi I think), useful for milk and supplies at low prices).

After posting I thought I'd better check out the reviews because a site can go downhill in three years. I don't remember any problem with the staff. Looks like I got the name of the supermarket wrong, Morrisons not Aldi. I also forgot there is an ice cream van that tours the site.

Our visit being early season, I can't comment on others views about overcrowding. Without marked pitches there is always a trade off: early season, loads of room, pitch where you like but high season and you can't tell someone else to get off your pitch.

There is someone who posts and thinks this site is very good. Hopefully this link should take you to a thread about Kelling Heath:

Kelling heath is a much different kettle of fish, with shop, bar, pool etc. It does have marked pitches but in the summer hols gets v busy. 

I like Manor farm (last there early summer) and as I said before it was outside school hols. I like the fact you can put the tent where you want but I imagine it does get busy in the season. The facilities near to the dog field were open, and there is also now a Co op Rainbow store nearer than Morrisons.

I've become a stalker!! I posted the link to another post in good faith. I've just followed through to the persons homepage: now I understand the reference to homework.

Liz, sorry; my post was not clear enough,  I meant to direct to the Kelling Heath thread solely for the comments on Manor Farm.

I have been to Kelling: we used the steam train and walked the dog and son round the heath but also had a look at the facilities. My partner decided if we went back to Norfolk she would like to go to Kelling but I prefer Manor Farm: so Kelling it is then......

And I got the name of the supermarket wrong; twice. Problem is that I could remember Rainbow something but all I could remember with a name like that was a defunct political party and a gay rights group and I didn't think either of them ran a supermarket in Cromer.

One thing I could add, if you walk out from the front of the site, you can go down into the village, past the duckponds and I'm sure there was a village pub down there somewhere. And now I've said that, someone will point out it's become a chinese restaurant. But it was a pleasant evening stroll.

Oh right John, now I understand!  I was too lazy to follow the link, sorry. Nyika is a Manor Farm fan right enough!  And I was a bit disappointed to find 'the Rainbow Shop' was a grocery store! (Smiley face)

Don't know about Chinese restaurant, but there was a Greek one there last year! I though there would have been a few more comments, East Runton is an attractive village, with a couple of interesting shops - army surplus store, camping shop, as well as small supermarket, and a stall selling secondhand books outside a house near the duckpond.

It's a 5 min drive to West Runton beach where there's a big car park and typical small caff cum seaside shop if Cromer is too commercialised for you.

Manor Farm is surrounded by pretty countryside;  as for noise you do get a train going by occasionally tho' you can't see it - doesn't bother me. Never been there on dustbin day so can't comment on that. Lots of birdsong - at the beginning of our first visit my birdy daughter was excited as she had never seen or heard a Yellowhammer before and by the end of the weekend our ears were ringing with  'alittlebitofbutterand nocheeese!'
