Ibn June a crowd of my work colleagues are doing the Morecambe Bay work in aid of the Marie Curie cancer care charity. We thought we would make a weekend event by camping  in the area. So I am looking for a site in the Kendal Carnforth area where a group of fifteen can get together for barbeque and drinks without looking over our shoulder. Toilet facilities would be nice, caravans and tents. We just want to relax without worrying about whether we are upsetting others so we reckon the camping and caravanning club sites are out. Any one been to a site that fits the bill?

Hello dogshome,

Have a look at Gibralter Farm, Silverdale in the campsite search, it sounds ideal, facilities are basic, but adequate (sp) a stones throw from the bay (sinking sand), a mile from the village, it's a chill out site, see what you think of the reviews.

By the way its about 6 miles from Carnforth, possibly 25-30mins from Morecambe.  Good luck with the walk.

Shirley

Try Hollins Farm camp site, Far Arnside, Silverdale. The site takes both caravans and tents

Another vote for Gibraltar Farm - they allow groups and pretty much leave you to yourselves and it is close to the starting point for the walk.  Silverdale is a lovely village, with great walks and amazing views across the bay.  Carnforth is a bit of a hole, to be honest but has some good shops, including a local organic butchers which would be good for your BBQ!
