Can anyone recommend a site in the north e.g. near to Scarborough that would be suitable for a family of 4 with two under tens? It will be our first time camping and we're looking for a really nice site that a lot of people think would suit us and really hope that some of you experienced campers can help us out with the decision.
Paul.

Hi there have you tried jacobs park? or flower of may? dont know when your ooking to book but can see it being fully booked over easter but could always give it a try
We are going to Spring Willows near Scarbrough, we have'nt been for about 5 years but I think it's still a good site, I'll put a post on when we get back.
It's not on the coast, but check out the Golden Square site near Helmsley.
It's friendly, well run, very clean loos and has two playgrounds for young kids, which can be seen and monitored from most touring pitches.
Down the road at Amplethorpre there are excellent pubs (White Horse is our favourite) with good ale and good food who will happily feed whole families.
Weve stayed at Cayton Village. No club etc like the commerical sites but our kids like it. Has a playarea where most kids "meet" in the evening. Couple of local pubs including one that does entertainment. Scarborough is only about 5 miles away.
If you are short staying or late booking you will probably end on the camping field at the rear of the site which can get a "little" windy (just like anywhere on the East coast). We've stayed for longer period twice and got pitches in the main camp (nice and sheltered)
Camp has good faciltities, security barrier and a little shops ofr essentials

The Scarborough c&cc site is meant to be good, and we've stayed at Slingsby c&cc site for a week with our two of 7 and 5 and loved it (there isn't a playpark there but they loved playing in the fields next to the campsite!) Also a lovely 'chocolate box' village down the road where the kids can paddle in the ford.

Has anyone been to Silecroft campsite? If so please tell me about it because i have been there a few times over the duration of having a tent, or caravan. It has a very clean and quiet indoor swimming pool, with a jacuzzi next to it. It also has a pond, where you can feed the ducks, and a children's play area with swings, a climbing frame and other fun things for the kiddies to play on. It keeps them out of their parent's way for hours! LOL! Also it has brilliant electric hook ups and an unlimited water supply for every customer! Also the bathrooms are as clean as in your own home and are very close to the campsite shop, which has almost everything you could need. I hope you will consider finding out about it and giving it a go. Very good for trying out new tents.
